CASTLETHORPE SCHOOL
is a small village school that has limited outdoor space. The design maximises the limited space and includes a raised decked for budding actors and doubles as a sitting area whilst listening to stories, the use of artificial grass ensures they can use the space all year round and a fairy teller's chair draws spellbound children into a magic circle.
The plants were chosen for their texture, scent, shapes and fruits that the children can relate to and appreciate and learn from.
Over the years the children have enjoyed collecting and cooking with the fruit and this has been a great success at introducing the outdoors into the classroom.
The garden appears in the Castlethorpe open gardens and visitors have commented on how well the school has maximised their limited space as well as the beautiful show of sweet peas in summer.
All the children enjoy playing in the garden and during the warmer days attend studies outside under the shade of the cherry tree.
